The Sales Pitch. A found out an acquaintance is opening a new deli store, downstairs from the office. we know each other for 7 years or so, and a few days ago, when leaving the office, I walked in his store, on the first day, I pledged him with a website proposal. Busy with the opening, he agreed on the terms, prices and requested to register two domains. Instead of heading home, I went back to the office and registered the domains, with the precise, accurate spelling he requested…. on my name.
The Value of a Handshake. I don’t know how long you guys have been around, but many times, clients may walk back from a deal, specially if no down payment is involved. Well, this specific client, was to send files and never sent, at least until now. Now, on this case. the .COM and .CC of his company are registered on my name on his request. If he is serious about his business ( he is married and has a child, most likely he is dead serious about his business) he will eventually remember the he needs a website, and then in need of his domain names, he will remember me.
When and How to use this Technique. This is a great closing technique for targets and potential buyers that do not wish to sign anything or put any down payment. Once they give the verbal authorization, it is possible to lock the domain for $10 and as consequence the whole transaction will flow. My plan is to approach a few laywers offices we have around here. Why laywers? they have funds available and they don’t know a thing about computers. seems easy.
