Promoted at Fiverr

May be is not a great achievement, but is better than nothing. Today I got an email for my account at fiverr that manages backlinks sales and I got a promotion. From now on I can sell extras above 5 dollars and allow multiple gigs at once.
Fiverr has been a steady earner since I post for free on one of the top traffic sites on the planet. All tough I did create successful gigs, the challenge has been creating profitable gigs, since they have to be sold at 5 dollars, that are in deed, little less than $4 after fees.

They also pledge Priority support: to questions or problems from their “support ninjas”

Paying Hundreds for Indians to Hear Jokes

An online acquaintance started providing me $105 google vouchers for $7, a profitable discount to say at least.
Most affiliate websites I have were denied by Google for many reasons such as “bridge site”, “bad landing page” and other reasons.

Then came Tapad.org

I bought the domain after learning that tapad – an advertising company got funding of millions of dollars but did not buy the .net and .org extension like everyone else.

Then I put a funny commercial blog there. The site was approved by Google and every visitor stays an average of 3 pages there, and as I said, I could obtain the traffic for very little. It could also attract advertisers, improve affiliate sales.

After thousands of happy visitors, that enjoyed funny commercials. I have ONE backlink sold, better than nothing, but, If I were paying for these visits, the site would be an expensive joke.

I am “pulling the plug” on the tapad advertising, sent an email message to tapad.com, perhaps they are interested on the domain. Meanwhile, I will keep on selling links.

Techniques for Opening a Geo Directory

Wistia

This interview caused a great impact on me. I watched 3 times from the start until the end, and if I have time, I will watch a few times more. Is indeed a GREAT TUTORIAL on how to make money with domain.

mr. Costello gives tips and strategies by telling the development of 2 domains of his middles size portfolio estimated to be in the hundreds.

The palmsprings.com reportedly bring in close to 1 million dollars every year by selling advertisement space. The price changes according to the type of business, where hotels pay more than restaurants, mr. Costello reports.

Now a GREAT SALES PITCH mr. Costello teaches and I started using it ( I pitched one yesterday) is to approach the business and to prove that your site can bring in sales, provide a trial period for free. I used this pitch yesterday successfully, and hope to keep using it.

A great success story was about daycare.com where he posts day care information. Sometimes the daycare business themselves would call in requesting corrections, and then pay a fee, entitling them to do so. I had people calling in for corrections, on my own sites, and did not think of that, and even deactivated the site. Now the site is back on, and I already now my path.

mr. Costello also makes a point of not faking stats and creating original, unique content to ensure quality rankings. Well… I am working on that :)

Traffic Arbitrage: Is it worth trying?

I currently manage close to 25 websites that provide a very modest income. The sweetest of all income is the backlink sales. Not much work, and I wonder How can I increase orders and price.

The first rule is to raise a price on anything is increase demand. Most backlinks are sold on Fiverr, and orders are dwindling. I opened an Ebay outlet for them as well, but so far only one sale. Adsense income is very low, not really relevant.

So I am testing buying traffic. On a recent email from Michael Cyger, from Domain Sherpa he told me he obtained his top rated  advertisers, by basically canvassing and networking. Which is basically what has to be done, once you have a presentable website to propose.

What means presentable ?

  • Quality Traffic
  • Engaging Content
  • Pleasant Layout

So I am experimenting raising my traffic, buying cheap clicks from Facebook and Google Adwords, hoping I will be able to perhaps:

Increase my ranking

  • Enlarge my subscriber list
  • Engage Readers

All in order to obtain advertisers.

Is a slow process, since traffic costs money. Currently I am investing $2 each site, aiming at 100 unique visitors a day.

This morning I received an email from a publishing company offering me books, in order to ease several interviews they wish me to post on the site, to promote their books. It is not money, but it is profit. The proposal came after I sent them a screen shot of my (bought) traffic.

Also you my just put you logo. Google will show your logo for free, until someone clicks. This makes the public more familiarized with your brand, and long term that could result in great performance.

I already enabled Google Analytics to be viewed publicly on the main sites, using the Google Analyticator plugin, giving it a try.

Most of the content is copy and paste, spinned articles from Google Alerts. Or “Inspired” articles.

I also considered hiring authors.

Is a Brand and a Logo the Same thing?

Your promise is the essence of your brand. Don’t make the common mistake
of thinking that your logo is your brand identity. Your logo is a visual representation
of your brand and an important element of your brand identity, but
it’s just one component. When people think of your brand, they may visualize
your logo, but your promise is what motivates them in your direction.
While-you-wait service is a promise. The best on-time arrival record is a
promise. “You’ll never wait in line” is a promise. “You’re a name, not a
number” is a promise. Each one puts a company’s reputation on the line by
assuring that the brand will live up to the high expectations it sets for itself,
or else. The promise becomes an internal rallying call for excellence and a
magnet for new business.
Your promise is essential to your branding strategy. If you’re not already sure
of the promise you make to all who deal with your business, consider these
questions:

  1. Why do customers choose your business? What do they seek from you that they can’t get elsewhere?
  2. How do you think your most satisfied customers describe your products  or services? What words do they use when they pay compliments or when they fill out satisfaction surveys?
  3. How do you think your most satisfied customers describe the feeling they get when they work with your business? Would they use words like “efficient,” “fun,” “friendly,” “competent,” “creative,” “convenient,”  “reliable,” “exciting,” “amazing,” or others?
  4. What attributes of your company do you think customers like best and would find the hardest to replace if your business weren’t available to them?
  5. If customers had to choose one word or phrase that describes what they consistently expect and receive from your company, what would it be?

Answer these questions on your own, ask managers and staff members to answer them, and then go to a few key customers and ask for their input.
Explain what you’re up to. Tell them that, as part of your branding strategy,  you’re clarifying the way your business promise is interpreted in the market,  and you’d appreciate their responses to the preceding questions.
When you’re done with your analysis, take these steps:
1. List all the reasons customers choose your business and the attributes
they count on only your company to deliver.
2. Circle all the attributes you’re confident that you can deliver consistently
and upon which you’re willing to stake your reputation.
Chapter 6: Putting Your Brand into Words 97
3. Put a check mark next to those attributes that are compelling to customers
and to your internal team — the ones you can rally behind
and take pride in offering.
4. Take the checked items and make a short list of business attributes
that are most assured, most compelling, most believable, and most
consistent with the character of your company.

You May Learn from Chef Patrick: Branding

After flipping, reportedly over 300 real estate properties, and selling his real estate company, Chef Patrick reveals one of his strengths: Branding. . The domain itself is close to $10 registration per year. One you create an image to represent the site and broadcast, the domain becomes recognized, and then you are selling a BRAND a recognized brand.

This means paying traffic to SEE YOUR logo and site, turns your domain into an asset instead of just a web service.

I am already testing on buying real traffic for a couple of sites I have, even though they are not selling anything,  just to see if it improves the organic traffic.

My mistake? Some of them do not have a LOGO…. something I will fix very fast.

Is it possible to make a living from appreciatting domains?

Google had a page rank update last June 27, 2011 and several of the websites I operate appreciated. That is the good news. the bad news is how much? Take for example an exact match name HTC-Desires.com I own the domain and operate the website. It now has a PR1. and trades on ebay close to $20. It would be cool if I could do that with $1000, but that is not the case. The site was built and is fed, to this very day.

Another website, perplexities.org, single word, originally bought with a fake pr, jumped to page rank 2.

The domain appreciation itself is almost irrelevant, but there is the backlinking craze out there, people pay. It is a way of advertising.

The higher the page rank, the easier will be to sell the backlink.

Take for instance Casio-Shock.com, it had 80 organic visitors daily, now after the update, it has Page Rank 2, but traffic severely drop, therefore hurting income. This case is exasperating, since the advance represents a huge recess.

Where does Social Media and Advertising Merge?

Advertising is shifting, from papers, from tv, from radio, from the internet, from mobile phones. The bottom line for any advertiser is:

Influence a consumer decision.

Buxom Blonds. Well, buxom blonds may still work, but responsible consumers, specially the smart ones, tend to check their alternatives on line, before making any important purchase decision.

This is were social media comes in. Social media has a considerable role on providing this consumer with this information. They are now considered far more reliable than the previous methods, since in many cases the person behind that blog, web site, facebook page, is a consumer just like the researcher himself.

YouTube channels, Facebook pages, Twitter Accounts are the hub for this information and if the companys aren’t there, they soon, probably, won’t be around anyomore.

and this change is happening very fast, extremelly fast.

Action required. The action required is to dominate this science,  apply to yourself first, on your site, products, and once you mastered peddle to your clients. Sure shot!

good luck.

The Role of Self Esteem in Domain Trading

Chef Patrick started flipping houses. Once the market was overcrowded he decided to leave for Domain flipping, back then, virtually unexplored.
- There are a lot of similarities on both markets.
The very first step to sell the domain for a higher price from what you originally pay, is to believe that the domain is worth more. No one can do that for the domain, only the owner.
Then you can justify the price hike, buying or creating backlinks, creating revenue, pumping the page rank or installing quality content.

So here are a few suggestions.

  1. Write about the domain you are selling and justify why the price you are asking is fair. Search volume, price of similar domains, income generated are a few ideas to start with. Once the ad is ready, read and re read, since a buyer will call based on that information and if you know it, the conversation will click and a sale may happen.
  2. Repeat to your self that you will only sell for that price or above. You may go as far as imagining what will you do with the profit. If it noble, helps it happening.
  3. And above all: Consistency. It has to be practiced…it is all in the mind.

My Experiences with Generated Content

I have been doing some experiences with the Caffeinated Content Plugin and had some very interesting results. I am able to populate the site in a few hours. Even though it generates the posts, they still demand some editing.

Caffeinated Content

I have done it with 3 or four sites, all on sale on Ebay.

Not Indexed by Google. The content did not get indexed by google and I wonder if there is a way to make it indexed. I tried adding the Duplicate Bye Bye plugin but it seems noneffective.  But the sites look rich, they may end up selling. It is a no loss situation, but I am in this business to make money.

Content Sources. The Plugin picks content from 3 sources

  • Yahoo Answers
  • You Tube
  • Articles Database

And YouTube allows to post their content on our websites, so in essence, it should be pretty legal.  It makes me wonder if they have something similar for pictures and if that would give a selling edge to my websites. Most likely this will be my next experiment.

Building a Domain Inventory

I have been spending a few dollars on buying expired domains names.  I did look for some domains that were aged and had some chance to be bought back from the owner but I don’t like the business model that much. There is nothing wrong with that. Rather go for Page Rank and Indexed pages when possible. Since I try to keep my acquisitions to a minimum, after all I can always unload the domain on ebay for a low price, and that guarantees my investment. I found this video clip somewhat useful  on buying expired domains.

I also found a few sites that give out details expiring domain names for free, better than paid services. I did consider the register compass, fresh drop, but I found their rates VERY expensive, since again I wish to protect my self. DropDay has good fees, and I did a very good try, for 10 days, but again, I was able to get better prices using free services.

My Goal. My goal is to have an inventory of domains that can once in a while be sold for a respectable profit. It is still a micro enterprise, yet, my income is made of very small streams. after I am self employed. And I know that the key for more income is to increase the number of small streams.

A few additional notes.

  • I only use GoDaddy. The domain registration, technical support are very reliable, and the transfer is FREE, Here in Israel the transfer for a .CO.IL goes for around $80 a complete ripoff, and as you may expect, can take days.
  • I in general trade .COMS. As I said, I want some liquidity. I did a couple of good deals with .NET and recently bought a .ORG but liquidity is with .COM
  • I am selling on ebay. I get my payment right away, and yes or no, there are buyers there, I also post on SEDO and GODADDY auctions, but no luck there until now.

I am a believer in RAIN this means that I cannot control when it will come but I must have some seeds on the soil for it when it happens. I am posting my domains for sale, individually, after all, I have 1 year registration, which gives me plenty of time, and as an added bonus I am throwing some templates to see if it can warm up the sales.

Reflections About Syndication

There is a growing trend for Syndication. One of my sites, has over 1000 twitter followers. Bots, spam, marketers, getting real people is not as easy as one may think.  A follower called Kim tweets a post about DIET with 30+ comments…. from a PR ZERO blog. It sounded impossible. I asked it the post was paid, and she said it was a SYNDICATION, that means that it is a group of people that comment on their blog.

It may sound funny but that attracts people, traffic and page rank. So on Kim’s suggestion I enrolled on the TSA http://tsamastery.com/ the thing is that it demands 10 day training with videos that goes on forever.  I did watch the first day, and plan to see the remaining but, it is costing me time.

Kim also recommended Synnd http://synnd.com/ with 300 members that pay $97 monthly. For this kind of funds, there a lot more I can do, after all, I can always hire someone on FIVERR

Philosophy taught me that if to beggars exchange money that will attract more money for them, and the same goes for traffic. Yet I could be wasting time on comments that would be good as spam and I already have that on my blogs.
